• It’s a slow-burn film detailing deconstructing a life and a morality study
  • Winner of best director at cannes
  • Nearly all diegetic music
  • Formally the film requires multiple viewings- there’s some nice elements like the stone that is literally thrown at Romeo’s (Adrian Titieni- who is brilliant) window- essentially caused by his on immoral or sinful behavior
  • Reminds me of Farhadi’s recent work as well as cache with the sins of the past and how we treat each other reaping vengeance—I can see elements of the godfather and Shakespeare as well
  • Beautiful shot of a mug-shot lineup with the 4-5 fugitives coming in fine and then the two people (detective and Romeo) on opposing sides in the reflecting glass. Very well done
  • Need to see it again for sure to see if it’s a Recommend or Highly Recommend but for now I’ll keep it outside my top 10 of 2016 but in the archives quite safely
