Slumdog Millionaire – 2008 Boyle & Tandan
- The entire film is filled with genuine energy- vibrant editing
- It’s certainly a unique narrative flashback structure with the flashbacks, each vignettes and yarns of seemingly embellished memories, triggered by the millionaire questions—all of this is a within a flashback where the Patel character is being questioned and tortured
- From a formal standpoint there is a very nice shot distance choice repetition with long shots, overhead shots, and close ups… Boyle often throws in askew angles as well
- Borderline top 10 film of 2008
- Recommend/ Highly Recommend

[…] Slumdog Millionaire – Boyle,Tandan […]
Do you think highly of Patel’s performance in Slumdog Millionaire? Combined with The Green Knight this makes for a very decent resume for a 33 year old. He also has Oscar nomination for Lion(2016).
@Lionel- I like that- but now we’re including people in their 30s which opens up the list quite a bit
Hmm. Not sure about what list you are referring But Dev maybe one big performance away from landing on the top 100 male actors list.
@Lionel – sorry, thought your comment was on this page here where there was been a discussion recently about young actors https://thecinemaarchives.com/2023/08/31/the-99th-best-actor-of-all-time-timothee-chalamet/ . That could be true of Dev, but you could say that “one big performance away” for quite a few actors. The top 100 actors list could have been expanded to 200 easily without getting to Dev – at least for now.
Yeah. I think Dev isn’t a big contender for the list right now. But he definitely becomes a contender if he gives another great one of the year’s best performances.
