Lots of one-joke humor like “look, he can do dog-grooming” and “look he can do shish-ca-bobs” but it’s done sincerely and with style by Burton and Depp (and Wiest- who is fantastic here)
Depp’s title character certainly plays on his deadpan skill (seen again, and better, in jarmusch’s dead man and others—it certainly borrows from Buster Keaton
Certainly notable for set decoration and color schemes- almost like pastels in Sirk’s 1950’s suburbia.
