Edward Scissorhands – 1990 Burton
- The first pairing of Burton and Depp
- Love the homage to horror and gothic with the Vincent Price casting
- Can’t get behind the #645 on TSPDT all-time ranking
- Lots of one-joke humor like “look, he can do dog-grooming” and “look he can do shish-ca-bobs” but it’s done sincerely and with style by Burton and Depp (and Wiest- who is fantastic here)
- Depp’s title character certainly plays on his deadpan skill (seen again, and better, in jarmusch’s dead man and others—it certainly borrows from Buster Keaton
- Certainly notable for set decoration and color schemes- almost like pastels in Sirk’s 1950’s suburbia.
- Not in the top 10 of 1990 but in the archives
- Recommend
