• Certainly borrows equally from the sixth sense and jack clayton’s the innocents from 1961—Kidman, like the Kerr character- dominates the film which is a horror film with a young boy/girl combo
  • Kidman is so genuine and unflinching in her performance here- it’s very hard to imagine this film in the archives without her— her and the 2 children are perfectly cast
  • It’s not Bergman but there is intelligent discussion throughout on death and the afterlife that helps the film live up during repeat visits after the novelty of the well-earned big reveal at the end is over
  • The film is drenched in fog and night shooting which adds to the atmosphere
  • Not in the top 10 or near of 2001 but in the archives
