Certainly borrows equally from the sixth sense and jack clayton’s the innocents from 1961—Kidman, like the Kerr character- dominates the film which is a horror film with a young boy/girl combo
Kidman is so genuine and unflinching in her performance here- it’s very hard to imagine this film in the archives without her— her and the 2 children are perfectly cast
It’s not Bergman but there is intelligent discussion throughout on death and the afterlife that helps the film live up during repeat visits after the novelty of the well-earned big reveal at the end is over
The film is drenched in fog and night shooting which adds to the atmosphere
Not in the top 10 or near of 2001 but in the archives
