• An updating on the story Jesus Christ- reflexive (the lead character here is putting on a play updating the story of Christ), examining and critiquing modern society (French Canada here in the 1980’s)
  • Largely an self-serious satire (and that’s tough, and breaks from say Bunuel here), the film works better as a criticism on materialism, fame, the entertainment industry, advertising, hospitals- you name it— the fall of society
  • A very nice shot tracking in on the cross by the water
  • Ends with the film’s strongest shot—an overhead (truly God’s eye view) breath-taker that I wish had been woven into the form more often—would’ve made for a stronger film
  • A Recommend but on the fringe of the archives
