The third in the series here—they add a young talented Judy Garland (age 15, her second film) and make a bigger role for Buddy Ebsen but this one still misses the sharp wit of Jack Benny
A nice opening crane shot from the top of the metropolitan on down with the camera driving in to watch the show with the crowd—it absolutely works as if you’re about to see a big show
Again- the tall lean Ebsen can dance and make for laughs- “opera isn’t as bad as it sounds”- haha
Robert Taylor mostly just stands there and looks handsome while Eleanor Powell impresses with her tap skills
A brilliant shot of the cast in silhouette on stage at 97 minutes
Ends with a series of crane shots—strong ending- the last one is pulling away from the entire cast as they finish their last act
